'Perfect' is a word that sum's up Nicol & Maria's big day. Maria, her lovely mum and myself sneaked away in the morning for a very early Gin & Tonic in Millenium restaurant in Verbier to calm the nerves and then headed back to join the bridesmaids in the Farinet penthouse to get ready for the big day. Maria was the perfect, most beautiful bride. All I can say about the way she looked is that I will be happy if I look half as good as she did if I ever get married! Beautiful dress, beautiful hair, beautiful person, lucky husband!!
The wedding took place at the church in the town of le Chable below Verbier in Switzerland. The sun was shining on the 200 guests. The church ceremony was lovely and went very smoothly. Outside the church the guests gathered for a few drinks which Toby and Guy helped serve. I then tried to gather everybody for a group photograph outside the church. It's not easy getting the attention of so many people. I stood on a wall outside the church to get an elevated view of everyone. As I shouted at the top of my voice to get everyones attention to look my way, several times...the big man in the sky intervened and blew a gust of wind which lifted my dress up in the air and exposed my lovely blue knickers to each and every guest, man woman and child. I blushed but realised I had their attention judging by the howls of laughter and applause, and click...I got the photo. It was a hilarious moment and one I will never forget. I'm sure the guests will not forget it in a hurry too. I wish I had worn underwear that matched my dress!
After the church, Nicol and Maria took off in style in Saj's white Ferrari California. They then got on the ski lift to the famous ski resort, Verbier. The reception dinner was held at the chic Cristal Restaurant at the top of the Ruinette's lift station in Verbier. There were many highlights from the best man speeches, to the first dance, but the best had to be the superbly choreographed flash dance performed firstly by the bride and bridesmaids and then several of the other girls. What a surprise this was to the guests and it was a whole lot of fun! The sun setting in the awe inspiring backdrop couldn't have been more spectacular.
The late night party was held in the Casbah nightclub in the centre of Verbier. That I'm not going to write anything about. What happens at night always remains a memory to those present only, but I will say we all went out with a bang!
The day after the wedding, Nicol and Maria had organised a 'hat brunch' for all of the guests on the very sunny terrace of 'le Rouge'. Maria looked stunning in red which was very appropriate for the setting. Nicol and his best men and friends all wore cowboy hats. They did look rather good in the ruggish attire! ;-)
It was a fun filled weekend. Thanks Nicol and Maria for the best wedding celebration ever. If this is a standard you are setting for your future life together, then you have a very bright future! Lots of Love guys. You rock!! xxx
