Verbier is about to open officially for the season and it doesn’t look to be any old regular season. There has been massive investment put into some big developments such as the new lift connecting the resort directly to Bruson, the W Hotel and the Trois Rocs development fantastically situated right next to Verbier’s main lift station, Medran.
Not only that but Verbier’s prolific entrepreneur who brought the famous Farinet Lounge bar is not slowing down on his lifestyle business ventures. Next weekend along with Verbier’s reputable local businessman Christian Sarbach , Sawyer will be opening the ‘Cuckoo’s Nest Restaurant’ ideally located up at Attelas in the old Olympique restaurant.
As the name suggests the interior of the restaurant is designed to look like the inside of a cuckoo clock with details such as large wooden cogs on the walls, a large cuckoo's box on the wall, service cuckoo’s on springs by each table that you pull out for the serving staff to see you are awaiting service and many other quirky ideas from the brilliant brain of Rob Sawyer.
The final touches on the Cuckoo's Nest menu were added by none other than the Duchess of York who added her three favourites. 5 Swiss Francs from these dishes will go to the Children in Crisis charity. Hopefully in Verbier these small amounts could make some big changes in some peoples lives. These small details make the Cuckoo's Nest a welcome addition to Verbier's social venues.
Last year Rob partnered up with Christian Sarbach and also Lawrence Dallaglio, James Blunt and Carl Foggarty on the successful la Vache restaurant, a short ski away from the Cuckoo’s Nest. If the popularity of la Vache is anything to go by, the Cuckoo’s Nest will be a winner. Hope to see you up there this winter!
